HOW TO PLAY

Ask participants to sit or stand in a circle.

Give one wrapped prize to any player in the group. Choose someone to serve as the reader and have that person read the complete story aloud.

Every time the reader says LEFT, the person holding the prize must pass it to the player on her left.

Every time the reader says RIGHT, she must pass the prize to the player on her right.

Players should continue passing the prize throughout the story. The words LEFT and RIGHT appear frequently, so everyone will need to listen carefully and keep the prize moving.

When the story ends, the person holding the prize is the winner and gets to keep it.

For a larger gathering, divide participants into smaller circles and provide one prize for each group. The same story can be read aloud to all the groups at the same time.
